Dear readers,
A couple days ago I managed to make available my first Chrome extension. GMark This is a Google Bookmarks extension for Google Chrome. It aims to provide a lightweight and elegant interface between Bookmarks and Chrome by providing simple ways of bookmarking new pages and searching bookmarks. Searches are also integrated with Chrome’s Omnibox.
GMark This was motivated by the lack of a simple extension to manage Google Bookmarks on Chrome. For users with a significant amount of labels and bookmarks, using traditional options like YAGBE is not feasible. Loading all your labels on a pop-up and browsing through them is simply not efficient. That’s why GMark This aims to provide the simplest integration between Bookmarks and Chrome, without overheads.
Currently GMark This aims to provide a simple integration between Bookmarks and Chrome, thus, its features also aim to be as simple as possible.
- New bookmark creating through a browser action button.
- Bookmark search through Chrome’s Omnibox.

Server Migration
You guys probably noticed some downtime on the last few days. I just got a new server and was moving the whole domain and all services to the this new box.
After some quick tuning on the web server, I’m able to get a homepage load time close to 1 sec (1.030s First View) and reload under half a second (0.473 Repeat View).
So far, so good! All looks good now, but let me know if find anything weird happening!

Another Award at Dell
Another award goes to the list!!!
Here is some feedback I received with this award:
“There is one word to define Martin: Agility. He never accepts that there is only one way to do something. He will look for a way to agile the process. In my case I had one work to do and it would cost a long time to execute. Martin found the way to do this in a shorter time and it’s impossible to me don’t recognize how import was what he did.”
“Martin has presented a good knowledge about process and started some initiatives to improve it. Also he presents an extremely learning agility developing new functions in a very fast and effective way.”

A Simple “Great Job” Note
I just got an e-mail from my senior manager with a simple “Great Job” note.
The simple things that make a huge difference to our motivation.
Just check the chain of events (freely translated):
My mail to my colleague and my manager:
“Hi Olenka and Eliz, I’m almost ready with the Backfeed requirement. I’ve added a few negative scenarios to the list Olenka sent me and created all test cases.
I’ve used the table driven concept to create the larger test case, which covered most part of the requirement. To generate all XML messages required by the test cases I’ve created a Java application that can create any Backfeed message based on a input file. This file can be exported from Excel and a message template can be created using tags. I’ve executed a few tests and appartently everything is working fine. I can show it to you on Monday.
I also uploaded everthing to Test Director, both test cases and requirements. I finished the traceability matrix and created all test sets. I just have to instantiate a few test cases and it’s all done. I can that we’re at 98%.

“Excellent initiative from Martin. He created an automated application and with this, the required design effort went from 50 hours to 8 hours. This freed Olenka from having to work during the holidays and now she can go to the automation training that she would have to miss.”

First Award at Dell
Just after a few months of being hired I got my first award.
Here is the feedback that came with the award:
“I want to Recognize Martin for his excellent performance during the Block 1. His motivation to cover all defect possibilities, thinking in integration tests, resulted in few defects in production – only 2. Also, Martin was responsible to train five other testers, giving strong support, specially to India team. Martin demonstrated leadership, teamwork, high productivity and high technical skills. Besides that he created a easier form to import data to Quality Centre, and now is looking for a better way. He likes to work in challenging projects.”

This is a Dell internal award presented to employees quarterly for their outstanding work on one or more of the following categories: Teamwork, Leadership, Customer Experience and Community Involvement.
Since we don’t get time for a speech during the ceremony, I’d like to thank everyone involved on the project (that I cannot mention here) for their help on getting everything done, and more, done with quality.
